Ngo Thanh is writer in Hanoi, concerned with human beings. After 4 years as a critic and a filmmaker, she focuses now on a few main issues: how discourses on gender frame the way people think about the possibilities to become a subject; which elements intervene in the picture of art; ethics of an artist in contributing his/her work to a politically aesthetic landscape. Her aim in these practices is to challenge the social patterns of gender, political systems that consolidate the hierarchical distribution of who can speak, what is valuable and how to access knowledge. She nurtures chances to become Other, attaining a freedom in being by speaking being, and doing being.
